My name is Evelyn Carter.
To my husband, Mark, I’m nothing more than a quiet, ordinary housewife—someone who cooks, cleans, and stays out of the spotlight.
What he never knew… is that long before I met him, I inherited a five-star beachfront property—Azure Bay Resort—from my grandmother.
And I kept it a secret.
I wanted to know if he loved me for me… or for what I had.
Turns out, I got my answer the hard way.
One weekend, Mark told me he had a “business conference.”
Instead, he checked into my resort… with his mistress, Lily.
That same weekend, I happened to be there—unannounced—doing a low-key inspection. I wore a simple T-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops, blending in as part of the grounds staff so I could observe everything firsthand.
That’s when I saw them.
Walking in together.
Holding hands.
Lily looked like she was starring in her own vacation commercial—designer sunglasses, tiny bikini, attitude to match.
“Babe,” she cooed, looking around, “this place is insane. Are you sure we can afford it?”
Mark smirked.
“Relax. I used Evelyn’s credit card. She’s clueless—she’ll never notice.”
My chest tightened.
He used my card… to impress his mistress… at my resort.
They approached the front desk. Lily spotted me nearby, sweeping the pathway, and gave me a dismissive once-over.
“Hey, you,” she snapped. “Staff. Take my bag. It’s heavy.”
I didn’t move.
She frowned.
“Are you ignoring me? I said take it to my room. Maybe if you do it right, I’ll even tip you enough to keep your job.”
Mark finally looked at me—and went pale.
“E-Evelyn…?”
I didn’t answer him.
Instead, I smiled sweetly at Lily.
“Of course, ma’am,” I said calmly. “I’ll personally make sure you receive a… very special service.”
